Life

Αα has been scaling new heights of cray. Perhaps related: she is riddled with bum worms that are keeping her (and everyone else by proxy) up at night. We can hardly keep up the payments on the medicine and the laundry cycle is relentless. It’s heartbreaking, but also at some point it becomes more than irritating having ‘ITCHY BUM’ screamed at you for hours on end. Σσ is bearing the brunt of it, as per.

We survived the Halloween school disco, which I’m fairly sure is the worst night of the year. I will never come round to the idea that Halloween is a holiday worth celebrating, it’s just wall-to-wall shit chocolate and orange plastic destined for landfill.

I wrote some personal development objectives that were largely along the lines of ‘get better at Claude and friends’. Because the depressing truth is that feels like my only hope of clinging on to this career for as long as I can. And I don’t think I have any other realistic options.

I saw that someone high up at Anthropic thinks AI worms are going to infiltrate our toasters any day now. Maybe there’s still hope for a backlash. Or perhaps I’ll have bigger problems than wondering about whether or not I’m still employable when I’m attacked by the dishwasher (why the fuck is it connected to the internet?)

Darek said he’d come on Sunday morning. It is now Sunday late afternoon. We are not holding our breath.

Running

Submitted my GFA London Marathon application. The thought of doing anything like the prep for the marathon I did earlier this year fills me with dread. And hard to see a time when my foot doesn’t hurt. But I’m sure I’d regret it if I didn’t apply the only time I’m likely to be able to.
