Life
The cat escaped onto the roof and gave us a good scare. Going to have to investigate schemes to make the flat more prison-like.
We’ve started to agonise over corner sofas. There was a glimmer of hope that it would be quick and relatively inexpensive when there was an Ikea offering that we both liked the look of. Too bad it had the consistency of concrete. We took Ηη to a couple of furniture shops on Tottenham Court Road and I had a flashback to what an entirely shit experience that was as a kid.
We went to Bev for the bank holiday weekend and got some proper R&R. I stayed in bed till 11 on Saturday which hasn’t happened in about a decade. To be honest it left me feeling pretty shonky for the day, but I’m sure it will pay dividends.
The kids played happily (for the most part) with their cousins. Ηη needs to be outside running endlessly, but Rory far prefers being inside playing with dinosaurs. Negotiating that disparity was the weekend’s biggest challenge. Αα kept the rage under wraps for the most part.
Aila has had an op to take her tonsils and adenoids out in an effort to prevent her getting endless ear infections. Apparently it was a success and hopefully she’ll be able to go back to nursery in a couple of weeks. It’s all so brutal for her. And I can’t begin to imagine how her parents are dealing with it.
I’m definitely feeling a bit blue. Could be the changing of the seasons or that I’ve drunk slightly too much. I think the sense that we’ve had our last big heatwave of the summer is probably partly to blame. It’s been a strange sensation having to wear trousers and factor in the possibility of rain. Which also made us realise we still haven’t figured out a solution for where to hang up coats in the flat.
Running
I almost enjoyed myself when I went out across the fields around Beverley and started to wonder if I should enter some sort of trail running event.
