Life

Yesterday, bae went early to Birmingham for a course, only returning once the kids were asleep. In the intervening time, I took the kids to a fourth birthday party for one of little man’s pals. I survived the day apparently at the expense of my ability to recall most of the rest of the week.

Here’s what I’ve got:

• Little man was a total pain in the balls on countless occasions (highlight was having to carry him home from nursery one day with him screaming all the way). Really hoping it’s a just a phase. Bae has (for now) talked me down from my position that he’ll only improve if we punish him (he didn’t like it much when I threatened to take his toys to the charity shop – I can’t promise I won’t snap next week and find myself following that one through)
• A remarkable amount of regression in the little man’s toilet training and (related) a lot of washing
• Everybody’s a bit ill
• Nobody’s sleeping
• Combining the above, we decided nobody’s ready for baby girl to move into the same room as the little man at night. On the one hand, there’s never going to be a perfect time, but this feels close to the worst time to try

Listening

• Shoptalk 598 with Jen Simmons – lots of interesting stuff about Interop

Reading

• The Women of Troy by Pat Barker – I didn’t rate it as highly as The Silence of the Girls, but I enjoyed the writing

Watching

• Nyad – I think I’d have preferred it as a documentary, but a truly bonkers story

TIL

• If you add cooked.wiki/ to the start of any recipe url (before the https://) it strips away everything but the recipe and organizes the ingredients and method into separate columns
